How to get to the Mémorial Alsace-Moselle by bike?

Nearby cycling routes

To combine your visit to the Mémorial Alsace-Moselle with the discovery of a region rich in biodiversity, feel free to explore the following options to choose the route that suits you best:

  • Bruche Valley Cycle Route, offered by the partner website Alsace à Vélo, a network bringing together regional and local stakeholders involved in developing and promoting cycling routes in Alsace, including those along the Bruche canal and valley.
  • La Vélo Bruche, which extends the Bruche canal route and connects the Bruche Valley to Strasbourg over nearly 70 km of cycle paths from Saales.
  • Plaine Valley Greenway, developed by the AF3V (French Association for the Development of Greenways), which promotes the development of safe cycling routes and greenways.

The Mémorial Alsace-Moselle is part of the Hél’eau La Bruche network: by scanning a QR code, you can locate free drinking water points available nearby.


Access from Schirmeck

To reach the Mémorial Alsace-Moselle, you can take one of two routes:

  • Via the lower entrance of the Mémorial
    You can access the Mémorial parking area by passing under the railway bridge. Once in the parking lot, turn left and you will reach a zigzag pedestrian path leading up to the Mémorial, which you can follow while pushing your bike.
  • Via the upper entrance of the Mémorial (delivery access and visitors with reduced mobility)

After the Match supermarket, at the roundabout, take Rue de l’Ancien Sanatorium.
Continue across the bridge, then take the first right and keep right again to follow a path descending towards the Mémorial.atch, au rond-point, prendre la rue de l’Ancien Sanatorium.


Access from the train station

From Schirmeck – La Broque station, allow approximately 10 to 15 minutes by bike to reach the Mémorial.

Please note, however, that the route includes a significant uphill section.


Introduction of the “low-carbon” rate

To encourage eco-friendly travel, anyone presenting a valid same-day train ticket or arriving by bike is eligible for a reduced rate of €9 instead of €13.
The family rate is €28 instead of €32 (for one to two adults and up to four children).

Practical information for cyclists

The Mémorial is certified “Accueil Vélo”.

As such, we offer the following services to visitors arriving by bike:

  • Bicycle racks available near the site
  • Possibility to leave your bike at the belvedere, visible from the reception area
  • Free individual lockers available inside the Mémorial
  • Repair kit available at reception
  • Accessible toilets and water point
  • Free charging of phones, GPS devices, and/or e-bike batteries at reception

Please note: only Bosch brand batteries can be charged, as the Mémorial Alsace-Moselle does not have adapters for other brands
